SCPLH Refresher

With SCPLH qualification holders needing to undertake refresher training every 5 years, there are now a lot of licences coming up for renewal. It is important to note that certificates issued as proof of completion of this training have to have the date of issue of the certificate and NOT the date the training was completed.

With qualifications taking at least an average of 10 days to process by awarding bodies, we recommend that you ensure you take any refresher training well ahead of the expiry date of your current SCPLH qualification, to avoid having to retake the full qualification.

As a reminder:

Employers must plan for staff to undertake the Scottish Certificate in Personal Licence Holders Refresher (SCPLH/R) before their current licence expires.
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) state what must be on a certificate, and part of that directive states that certificates must include the date that the Awarding Body issues the certificate. This is not the date of the exam.
If you do not present your refresher qualification certificate to your licencing authority ahead of the current licence expiry date, you may be required to complete the full SCPLH and submit a new licence application.
Allow plenty of time – the exams should be completed at least 30 days before they expire, to allow Awarding Bodies time to process the certificates.
It would also be best to allow even more time than this where possible to ensure retakes can be done before expiry of a licence, in case of a failed exam.
