Daisy, Sous Chef at the Barge is now working through her second apprenticeship – Senior Production Chef – having already completed Senior Culinary Chef. Daisy clearly loves working at the Barge and shows bags of enthusiasm, in particular towards making everyone feel included in the team, regardless of who they are – a passion borne from her own experiences of previously being challenged as a female chef, and now being more determined than ever to succeed. Daisy’s colleagues talk so positively about the impact that she has on them, and describe her as competent, respectful, understanding, forgiving, and trustworthy member of their team. Daisy’s superpower is making people feel seen, and bringing people into the team, showing them that the opportunities to progress are there for everyone. The apprenticeships that she has completed with HIT have allowed her to improve her skills, both practical – through workshops and supplier days, but also by exploring different styles of communication. As one of her colleagues says, Daisy is one to watch!
